Musical Theatre Performance, Session A -- June 23, 2018
It's staggering to know that these kids -- grades 7-12 -- staged this production of "Shrek, Jr." with only one week of rehearsal. What an accomplishment.
When I first began my Sensitography theatre gig, I admittedly thought about retaining the rights to all my photos, posting them with a watermark and then charging the cast or the cast's parents a king's ransom for them. That had been the long-standing SOP in Grand Rapids for theatrical photos. But I bagged the idea for umpteen reasons, not the least of which is that the money thing felt over-the-top crass and over-the-top wrong. Now I simply provide my images to the theatre. Then, if and when the theatre posts them, all of you can freely download them to your heart's content. And that makes my heart content. Just as it makes me feel more a part of the theatre community that I love so much.
Obviously, if you are unable to snag my photos from the theatre's website and/or social media sites, you can save them to your photo library right here and now. Just click on a thumbnail image below and you can download it to your computer. That way it will be saved nice and big. And you can then see it in all its glory, the way it was meant to be seen. (If you just do a "Save Image As" on the thumbnail itself it will be a very small file and won't be visible in all its full size glory.)
Click any thumbnail below and it will open in a big and beautiful window.
I know theatre and I know photography. Most importantly I know how to shoot live theatre... how to capture the energy and emotion of a play so that others will want to be there to see it themselves.
