Having spent the better (sometimes the worst!) part of a lifetime in marketing and advertising, I became familiar with the casting and cattle call process for commercial productions. As such, I know all about snap judgments based on "the look."
Now, having specialized in performance arts photography -- especially live theatre -- I have developed a rich understanding of what it takes to capture a persona that differentiates the individual in a sea of competing headshots as casting agents and directors pour through them at warp speed. Some shots are purely Commercial; others are more Theatrical. Studio or on-location. Or both.
"Dave is the epitome of ‘you don’t have to travel to a big city to get a professional headshot!’ He was very easy to work with and collaborated on my vision!" -- Sammy Publes, director / actor
"Dave is warm, personable, and professional. He discussed with me what I wanted out of the session before he even took a shot, offered suggestions on poses and wardrobe, and made me feel at ease throughout the entire process. When I received my proofs back I was pleased I had so many options to choose from and that he was able to capture the true me, naturally and completely." -- Chelsea Herrema, actress
I know theatre and I know photography. Most importantly I know how to shoot live theatre... how to capture the energy and emotion of a play so that others will want to be there to see it themselves.
